It’s the end of fall, so I thought I’d give a quick update on the ol’ fam. My daughter talked me into getting her a hamster, and we’ve closed out the garden for the year. We got one last load of peppers out of the pepper box, and it was enough to fill an entire wheelbarrow! I’ll have pics of all of this coming soon, but for now, that’s what’s happening in the midwest.

Or because I want to earn points with the wife. I say it because it’s true. My wife cooks all of the meals, does all of the dishes, cleans the house, does the laundry, manages our finances, takes care of the kids, keeps the dogs from destroying our house, and then on top of that is just a really cool chick to hang out with. These are not exaggerations either. I can’t remember the last dish that I washed, or the last time that I changed a diaper. She does all of this without complaint, and all she asks of me is to get to work and keep the bank account full.

For whatever reason there has always been a spot in our lawn that has never really filled in. There’s good drainage, it gets plenty of sun, and very little traffic. Who knows? I decided to reseed it this weekend and put some straw down on top to help hold moisture and prevent the seed from blowing away (which has happened before). Do you know how hard it is to find straw in this town? Let me tell you, in case you didn’t know. VERY. Very hard. In fact the last place that I thought to look, because it’s hidden was Lowes. In a giant red dumpster behind the garden center, where you would never go, they have bales of straw. Hey, why not?
